Watched – Mongol

mongolposter

Just watched the DVD of Mongol and I was very impressed. This is a foreign language film with subtitles with a few interesting points. Mongol is a film about the origins of Temujin Khan from childhood to becoming the greatest of Khans (Genghis Khan). It is a Russian directed and written film by Sergei Bodrov with a range of asian actors (Japanese, Chinese and Mongolian). Not knowing anything about Genghis Khan I enjoyed the history along with action scenes. The battles and fights are well choreographed and filmed; it particular I liked the armour and realistic bloody depiction of battle. The shots of the Mongolian landscape are pretty amazing in particular the wide shots of people riding horses.
